This year’s Garden Tour was held on Sunday June 25th. We had four beautiful gardens on the tour hosted by the homeowners and our volunteers. It was a perfect day with crowds showing up half an hour before the official 12:30 start and a constant flow of people throughout the entire day.
Donations to the Food Bank totalled $600. We thank the many people that contributed to this worthwhile and needed service in the Centre Wellington area. The four gardens on the tour were located at: 199 St. George St., W. Fergus, 629 Anderson St., Fergus, 6885 Fifth Line, Belwood and 031229 Ninth Line, East Garafraxa.
We thank everyone, especially the homeowners that made this a successful and very special day. Anyone wanting their garden or a friend’s garden on the tour next year can contact us at fergushorticulture@gmail.com.
199 St. George Street, West, Fergus – Their passion for horticulture is evident at their home with gardens covering their entire property, which is full of fascinating nooks and crannies, seating areas, bubbling water stations, and artwork created by the owners.
629 Anderson Street, Fergus – The owners have created a magnificent property, from the pleasing front gardens to the relaxing sanctuary in the back. There are multiple seating areas to relax and enjoy the views of the pond, the trees and shrubs, and the pretty pool.
6885 Fifth Line, Belwood – The owners have created spectacular gardens filling the 12.6 acres surrounding their B&B. It is hard to believe he knew nothing about plants and gardens until he planted gardens around his church. Through trial and error and a love of gardening, they have created these magnificent gardens.
031229 Ninth Line, East Garafraxa – It is surprising that these new gardens were planted only a year ago. It goes to show what can be accomplished in a short span of time with determination and a commitment to create what are spectacular gardens surrounding their home.
