The Fergus & District Horticultural Society is proud to present the 2025 Annual Garden Tour, a vibrant celebration of nature’s artistry and the dedication of passionate gardeners.
This year, the tour will feature four beautifully curated home gardens, each a testament to the creativity and love of their owners, alongside one meticulously maintained public garden managed by the Society itself.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore serene spaces, marvel at diverse plant varieties, and gain inspiration for their own gardening endeavors.
245 Union Street West, Fergus
Welcome to my garden.
Whether you choose to sit and reflect or wander our many pathways, you will be met with shade, a pond surrounded by carefully placed moss covered rock, a sunken lawn area, a combination of formal and informal elements and a newly constructed courtyard. We urge you to be mindful with regard to your surroundings and watch where you step and occasional low hanging branching.
145 Union Street West, Fergus
A small 5 year old garden. Consisting of predominantly white, pink and foliage plants. Some unusual plants such as spotty dotty, tulip tree and fringe tree.
135 St. George Street East, Fergus
This garden is young and compact, and boasts colours for all seasons. There are many perennials, shrubs, and ornamental grasses. No grass to mow. Vegetables and edibles are grown in raised gardens.
380 Brock Ave, Fergus
Our home is on a heritage street (6 stone houses built between 1930-1935) for superviors, etc of Beatty Brothers factory.
We have a large, acre+ property comprised of the original yard plus part of the old CN railway property. Our garden has been 20 years in the making. There were several small garden spots when we purchased. We brought several trailer loads of plants with us from our previous home.
The garden has undergone many additions and changes since those early days, and will probably have some more changes to it this summer.
Templin Gardens
Tucked quietly in the heart of downtown Fergus and perched on the edge of the gorge, you will find Templin Gardens. Templin Gardens was commissioned in the late 1920s by J.C. Templin who was the Editor of the Fergus News Record. The loving gesture was a gift to his wife and ultimately to all who have had the pleasure of visiting here.
The gardens began as a vacant lot on the south side of St Andrew St, and took nearly 10 years to construct. Due to the depression, local, skilled labour was available. Using stone from the nearby Gow limestone quarry, they gave Templin Gardens the distinctive mark of Scottish stonemasons from a bygone era.
A Dry River Bed was added last year as our newest feature. The garden is maintained by the Fergus & District Horticultural Society.
